Taper Tantrum and MIZUNO WAVE RIDER 17!!!!!!!!!

I am in full on taper madness right now .... and just had a Taper Tantrum!  I feel like I could fly off the handle at any second and just want to lace up my NEW WAVE RIDER 17's and go for miles and miles!

LOVE the laces!

I am so beyond excited to try these new Wave Rider 17 and extremely thankful to Mizuno!  I am a firm believer in being passionate in what you love and for me running is such a part of my soul ... when I can't run I feel all out of whack and feel like something is missing.  Ever since I started running in Mizuno's I have been able to keep healthy and keep my feet happy!  So my amazing friends at Mizuno would like to share the love with ONE of my readers!!!  SAY WHAT!  Yes we can be twins and show off our new kicks...
I love that little sign!

Photo's of the past few days and Boston Marathon taper...

My hubby made me this awesome MIZUNO Easter egg!!  We take dying Easter eggs very seriously! Haha...
Chia Pudding
I made some Chia seed pudding the other day and it was quite tasty....
1 1/4 cup Almond Milk
1/4 - 1/2 tbsp of honey
1/4 cup Chia Seeds
handful of raisins
1/2 tsp cinnamon

I put it all in a jar and got to shaking to mix it all together...then placed in fridge over night and voila!!!

LOVE HER!!!
We went to play with baby Avery and her big brother Jordan...My boys are sooooo in love with Avery and they have adopted Jordan as their own brother!  haha...We are so lucky to have such an amazing group of friends!

So this week I have started my Boston Marathon taper...Sunday I got hit by the GI bug and felt like pure crap!!!   Monday consisted of running 3.5 miles with my girls lacrosse team followed by 6.5 miles of speedwork...I did 10 x 400 meter repeats and really pushed the pace ... 6.5 miles in 45 mins and the 3.5 miles with the girls in 26 minutes!

Tuesday was a much needed recovery and rest day ( I probably should have taken Monday off too ).

Today... after standing out in the cold for 2 hours I went to do my tempo run and felt so stiff,  I did a warm up mile at 8:06 pace then 6 miles at 7:18 pace then 1 mile cool down at 7:35 pace.  My left leg felt very stiff and "off " the beginning few miles so I increased the incline from .5 up to 3% and this seemed to help out!

Now it is time to taper, rest and hydrate before the big day!  My boys have been on spring break this week and this mama is ready for school to be back in session... They have been coming to lacrosse practice with me this week and my goodness do they showoff for the high school girls!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Anyone else love/hate tapering?

10 Mile Tempo and Taper Week

I had to work all weekend and fit in my last 10 mile run before taper week.  Friday I had my PT check up to make sure all systems are in check for race day because this past week my right foot started to act up a little bit and was feeling a little tight.  After getting that worked out I am feeling more confident.

So after being up for 26 hours I decided to take a quick nap before my 10 mile run on Saturday...I had to sneak it in before going back to work so I went to the Y and ran on the TM.  I started off on the slower end with my first mile @ 8:19.  I then set my speed to my uncomfortably comfortable pace and finished 10.1 miles in 73 minutes.  This run felt great and made me feel pretty good about heading into my taper week.  Since I work midnight shift I got to work an EXTRA hour and actually watch the time fall back!  So not fun to repeat that hour...totally felt like groundhog day!  At least I had great company to get me through the night!  When I got home in the morning I was beyond tired and my body was screaming for sleep so I decided to not set my alarm and just let my body wake up when it was ready.  I honestly cannot tell you the last time I just slept and woke up without an alarm!  My hubby is awesome and didn't bother me and kept the kids quiet while I slept.  I think I got a total of 12 hours of much much needed rest!  So my Sunday was a true REST day.

Today's workout was a 7 mile run in 49:21...with .60 mile cool down...I started this run outside and it was COLD!!!  I obviously was not prepared for the cold wearing my shorts and t-shirt!  At least I had gloves thanks to my oldest son for leaving them in the car!  I am very happy with my run and followed it up with some kettle bell wall sits and core work.
I am loving this combination of Injinji socks and Mizuno Wave Riders!  My toes have been feeling a little claustrophobic lately and they loved the space in these socks!  I highly recommend them if you get a chance to try them out.

Also,  I am completely in love with ProCompression socks and they are currently having a sale on their argyle compression socks!  I have a pair of the blue ones and just ordered another pair of the pink argyle.   Just go to their site and enter code SOM112 at checkout for 40% off and FREE shipping.  Like I said I am a huge fan and they are truly awesome socks.

Anyone else racing this weekend?
